Solutions for Resilient Water Infrastructure
SSDN is an Environmental Finance Center (EFC) for EPA Region 4, serving Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.
Created by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in 1992, EFCs help communities navigate the complex world of federal funding to support public health and environmental protection.
At SSDN, we provide customized assistance to successfully access funding and financing for water infrastructure projects — drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater, with an expertise in green infrastructure and nature-based solutions, free of charge.
Our services include funding navigation, community outreach, capacity building, and policy analysis.
FUNDING NAVIGATION
We can help chart a strategy to fund or finance projects by identifying specific and relevant grants and other opportunities.
ENGAGEMENT AND FACILITATION
We work with stakeholders to identify shared priorities through outreach campaigns and workshops.
CAPACITY BUILDING
We are eager to share our knowledge to increase local capacity to develop strong project proposals and grant applications on their own. We can create educational resources or host peer-to-peer learning sessions on a variety of topics that include water resilience, energy, green infrastructure, and grant writing and management.
POLICY ANALYSIS
To foster well-informed decisions, the EFC can research and assess water programs and policies, and create decision-support tools.
NATURE-BASED SOLUTIONS AND GREEN STORMWATER INFRASTRUCTURE
We believe that nature-based solutions and green stormwater infrastructure can be a beneficial addition in a stormwater assets portfolio addressing water quality and flooding challenges. Our EFC can provide hands-on assistance with all aspects of developing a systemwide program or a site-specific capital improvement project.
