SSDN Announces Leadership Transition and New Beginnings

Dear SSDN members, partners and community,
It has been an incredible honor to serve as SSDN’s first Executive Director and work with SSDN for nearly 10 years. I am pleased and honored that I have had the chance to lead such an impactful organization, and I commend my team and our members for the incredible work that has occurred to elevate local government leadership on sustainability and resilience in the Southeast.
When I first joined SSDN as a consultant in 2015, I couldn’t have anticipated the profound impact it would have on my life—both professionally and personally. Together we have all built meaningful relationships and created lasting change in our region. I am forever grateful for my time here, for SSDN’s members, and our staff. From growing membership, to establishing new programs, to becoming an independent nonprofit, I have learned so much from this experience! I will always carry the memories and lessons from my time here.
As I move forward into my next phase, I’m excited to announce that I will be passing the baton to Ann Livingston, who will serve as Interim Executive Director while the board determines the next steps in the hiring process. Ann has been with SSDN as staff since 2021, but has also participated in SSDN as a member when she was at the City of Fort Lauderdale. Ann brings a wealth of experience in leadership, experience with our work, and a deep commitment to our mission and members. I have complete confidence in their ability to guide the organization through this transitional period with skill, vision, and compassion.
During this time of transition, Ann will work closely with our leadership team, board, and staff to ensure that we maintain the continuity of our programs, services, and relationships with our partners. I am excited to see how they will work with members to build on the progress we’ve made and lead SSDN into the next chapter.
I am fully committed to supporting Ann and the entire team through this transition, and I know that with your continued support as members, the organization will continue to flourish.
As I transition away from my role, I want to express my deepest gratitude to each of you who has been a part of this journey. I am excited to see the ways in which this incredible organization will continue to grow and evolve.
Thank you for your trust, your support, and your belief in the power of what networks can do. I am proud of what this growing network has already accomplished, and will continue to cheer you along the way moving forward.
With heartfelt thanks and best wishes,
Meg
